Fall/Winter 2021/22 Musical Theatre Master Class Collaboration with SALT Performing Arts: Disney's Frozen, Jr.!
Our all-abilities class began on October 23rd, 2021, and will end with three full performances on the weekend of March 11th, 2022. This program is essentially 2 sessions combined (Fall/Winter).
How does it work?
This is a GROUNDBREAKING new version of our Inclusive Musical Theatre program. Members of SALT's Teen cast will be in a Buddy Program (not a 1:1 or TSS program) with members of our all-abilities cast, ages 5 and up, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for everyone involved. SALT's cast will have their own set of performances, and then Acting Antics will take the spotlight for the full weekend of March 11th-13th, 2022!
Knowing that every actor's life is unique, we are taking inclusivity to the next level. We are working with each of our actors to custom-build this new program to make it engaging, educational, and most of all, fun!
All COVID-19 safety measures are being taken. All of our teachers and staff are vaccinated, masks are being worn, all surfaces, props, costumes, and locations are cleaned regularly, and social distancing is in effect as much as possible.
• Most classes will be held at SALT's wonderful NEW West Chester location at 19 Hagarty Blvd., West Chester PA 19382.

(Elementary age) This program is designed to help children with social difficulties learn skills about interacting with peers, reading body language and other non-verbal cues, voice modulation, and understanding abstract language and inferences. It is important that youngsters in this group are cognitively able to work on abstract concepts in communication. Actors have a great time with building their self-esteem. The camp will include theatre games and activities, scenes and skits with a final performance for family and friends on the last day of class.
(Elementary age) This is a theatre program designed for students diagnosed with developmental and/or social delays. The program will focus on using music, movement, games and skits to teach the youngsters how to follow directions, motor plan, and interact successfully. Activities, scenes, and skits will be showcased in final performances for family and friends on the last day of class.
(Ages 7 - adult) In this exciting, inclusive program, participants with differences, siblings, and friends will rehearse and perform a 30-minute musical production. Actors learn to work together, remember cues, do movement to music, and perform a finished product. Actors participate in scene painting and making props. Participants with social differences work in tandem with neuro-typical peers to produce a finished musical play that will be showcased in final performances for family and friends on the last day of class.
For teens and young adults. This is a fun, movement-based program that combines theatrical and musical activities to build skills in following directions, learning patterns, motor skills, collaboration in a group, and building confidence. Those with limited spoken language and/or reading skills will be successful in this program. Individuals of different physical and social abilities join together in fun, guided dance and movement activities that will be showcased in final performances for family and friends on the last day of class.
For teens and young adults. Young men and women hone their communication and socialization skills through theatre games and improvisational activities. Actors must learn to collaborate, cooperate, and share ideas in order to perform successfully in Improvisation. Scripted scenes are also used to work on non-verbal and context cues as well as socially appropriate responsiveness. Individuals build social confidence as they acquire new skills. Activities, scenes, and skits will be showcased in final performances for family and friends on the last day of class.
Dance instructors trained to work with with students with special needs will teach Zumba, hip-hop, jazz, and more with a focus on individualized instruction.
